This paper first introduces the working principle and application advantages of progressive cavity pumps (PCPs), which are widely deployed in transporting thick, abrasive and shear-sensitive fluids (such as sludge, paste and drilling mud) due to their unique helical rotor-stator structure. However, the high-precision interference fit between the metal rotor and rubber stator causes severe friction and wear during continuous operation, making standardized maintenance essential to avoid premature equipment failure, costly downtime and production process interruptions.
To address these pain points, this paper systematically sorts out 8 practical and implementable maintenance tips: monthly inspection of rotor-stator wear and clearance, proper lubrication of bearings and drive gears per manufacturer specifications, thorough flushing and cleaning of residual fluid after each use, regular monitoring of abnormal vibration and temperature via basic tools, annual replacement of mechanical seals, quarterly precision alignment of pump and motor shafts, establishment of traceable equipment maintenance logs, and training on-site operators to identify early fault signs.
